LEGAL EXPERIENCE 

Ms. Broadbent is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Idaho and Utah.  She established Broadbent Law Office, PLLC in 2006, after becoming a shareholder at Finch & Broadbent, P.A. (previously Finch Cosho, P.A.) in 2000.  Prior to that, she practiced with Elam & Burke, P.A. (1995-2000; Boise, Idaho), Brady Lerma, Chartered (1990-1995; Boise, Idaho), and Kipp & Christian, P.C. (1988-89; Salt Lake City, Utah). 

Ms. Broadbent has successfully tried and co-tried lawsuits; briefed and argued before both the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Court of Appeals; and appeared in Idaho Industrial Commission, State Board of Medicine, and Idaho Personnel Commission, and other administrative proceedings.  She is experienced in insurance coverage analysis, professional errors and omissions exposures, and bad faith claims.  She has participated in numerous mediations, and received formal training as a civil and family law mediator in 2003. 

EDUCATION

A 1988 graduate of Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School (Provo, Utah) at age 21, Ms. Broadbent received  her B.A. in Political Science, International Relations emphasis, from Boise State University in 1985 at age 18.  She attended Kansai University of Foreign Studies in Osaka, Japan, before completing her degree at BSU, after graduating from Nampa Senior High School (1983; Nampa, Idaho) at age 16.  She studied in Hokkaido, Japan, as a high school junior, where she became proficient in Japanese.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Ms. Broadbent was a volunteer attorney for the Family Advocate Program's court-appointed Guardians Ad Litem, and presented at numerous guardian/attorney training seminars for ten years.  She has acted as an attorney mentor for Ada County’s Youth Court program and as a volunteer speaker in elementary, junior and senior high schools for the Idaho State Bar's Law Day program.  Ms. Broadbent received an Idaho State Bar 1999 Denise O'Donnell-Day Pro Bono award, recognizing her community service.  From 2003-2006, Ms. Broadbent served as an attorney member of Fourth Judicial District Magistrate Commission.

Outside the legal arena, Ms. Broadbent has served in various organizations in her church.  She is also actively involved in the local PTA, and supports various youth organizations.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Ms. Broadbent was born in Houston, Texas, but was raised in Nampa, Idaho, from grade school through college.  After law school and working in Utah, she returned to Boise with her husband, Clint, in 1990.  She has a daughter, a son, and two dogs.  She enjoys the outdoors, sports, theater, cooking, and family.
